What Is Webcast?I have been asked what is Webcast and how it works. I have also been asked if there is a way to make some money with it. I would like to try to answer both of those questions here so everyone can have a place to learn about webcasting. First of all, what is webcast? The simplest answer is that it is the ability to broadcast video and even audio over the internet. This broadcast can be done live or you could record and webcast the recording. This kind of nice if you contract to either webcast or record for latter webcasting something like school sporting events. You could webcast a recording of the game to all the coaching staffs of other schools that have your team in their play schedule. How webcast works is fairly straight forward. You get and use what is called streaming media software. This is Streaming media makes it possible to take a single content source and distribute it to many simultaneous listeners/viewers. It is really cool and is available to private users for a reasonable cost. Basically it is the same technology that is used to broadcast TV and Radio. By now I am sure you can think a lots of ways that you could use this technology to make some money. The recording of school sporting events could be only streamed to coaching staffs that subscribed to your webcast. Many colleges use this to webcast lectures for students that are taking courses online instead of in the classroom. Well, now lecturers will often record their lectures and webcast them to subscribing members interested in his topic. Any thing that someone would pay to attend can be webcasted to others willing to subscribe and get exactly the same information the student attending the lecture or training secession. Now that you know what webcast is and how it works, I hope you will think about trying it for yourself. After all I also pointed out some of the ways you can use it for fun and even to make a profit. If you want to webcast something but don't feel up to doing it yourself there are companies you can hire to bring the equipment to you even and either broadcast it live or record it so you can broadcast it at a time of your choice. All you have to do is run the event and advertise for subscription watchers and collect the money.
